VINTAGE FLORIDA STICKERS 1976 - 2003 HOME

CURRENT FLORIDA LICENSE PLATE STICKERS

Gone are the days of the separate Month and year stickers for Florida vehicle license plates.

New sticker format first noticed December 2009 and confirmed January 2010. This vanity plate was special ordered on October 29 and received December 2009. The latest sticker layout has the plate number on the TOP followed by the sticker control number. No vehicle type is indicated, however this plate is on a vehicle. The year / month has been moved to the BOTTOM. Florida 2010 TRAILER LICENSE PLATES use the same sticker format and no longer show TRAILER on the sticker

As of late 2009, the local tax collector office has a laser printer that prints all registrations and stickers on the same piece of preprinted paper that has a blank sticker attached. The paper is 8.25 inches wide and 8 inches long with a line of perforation at mid length. (4"). The sticker itself is a plain yellow colored reflective rectangle. The year / month is on the top of the sticker with the vehicle type and sticker control number below that. the last line contains the plate number itself. The picture below is a registration as it was printed. October 29, 2009. The plate is a vanity GOLD1

Beginning in 2002 Florida license plate validation stickers and blank registration slips arrived at the local DMV's in a roll. After your information is entered into the computer, the wallet sized registration slip and license plate sticker were printed. When viewed at an angle, these early stickers had authentication circles with "FL" visible. The 01-02 indicates that this sticker will expire in January of 2002. The "FL" is rather obvious, but it stands for FLORIDA. The "VEHICLE" indicates that this sticker validates a license plate for a passenger vehicle. The "PL8MAN" indicates that this sticker belongs on the license plate with the number - letter combination PL8MAN. Click either sticker to see the entire plate. Note the misalignment of the sticker in the printer caused the year / month to be cut off on the top.

Note that the sticker has the plate number on it and that it is registered to a trailer.

This 2003 improvement to validation stickers is the inclusion of a unique serial number assigned to the sticker which is printed vertically on the left side. This sticker serial number is included in the registration paperwork.

Below, you will see the 2003 Rental vehicle sticker and plate. Notice the sticker serial does not match the plate number like the above stickers.
